On Memorial Day, Justin and I rode the ferry from Brooklyn Bridge Park's Pier 6 to Governors Island.  Despite the massive crowds both on the island and at PicNYC, we managed to find periods of complete calm and isolation.

The island's other-worldliness is aided by massive sculptures by Mark di Suvero from Storm King's impressive collection.  Because these sculptures are placed all around the island, we enjoyed randomly seeing them as we idled around.

Other new features this year on the island include a mini golf course and (in-construction when we were there) interactive art pieces by Figment, like this bottlecap shaker made from thrown out bottle-caps.
